Company History

The Emmons Company was founded in Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks in 1988 by James E. Emmons, a former City Manager.  Mr. Emmons had achieved success as a City Manager and started two new cities: La Habra Heights and Westlake Village.  He believed that the training and skills utilized in municipal management would be transferable to the management of community associations and business centers.  He assembled a team of managers and support staff with proven credentials and sought to provide service to quality communities.  The strategy brought success...to the Company, and its clients.

In 1988, The Emmons Company started by managing two community associations and one commercial center.  Five years later, the company had grown to manage 24 community associations (7,500 units), four business parks and three major commercial centers.  Such phenomenal growth was due to the quality level of services that made The Emmons Company one of Southern California's leading management firms.

With a proven management program, The Emmons Company expanded its operations in early 1994 by acquiring Professional Management Associates, a company known for its outstanding reputation, highly trained personnel, and quality client base.  This enabled Emmons' unique management program to be utilized throughout six California counties.

State-of-the-art technology was networked throughout all offices, making The Emmons Company/Professional Management Associates one of the industry's most technologically advanced firms.

Today, The Emmons Company/Professional Management Associates is the sixth largest association management company in Southern California and serves over 85 clients (20,000 homes and 10 business centers).

The combination of large corporate advantages in technology and resources with a local, "small company style", provides the necessary ingredients for an unparalleled management program and a commitment to excellence well into the 21st century.
